Installation steps
Prepare the installation area: clean and level the installation area if necessary to ensure a flat and stable base for the vinyl floor.
Prepare the vinyl tiles: open the vinyl floor packages and let the tiles rest in their packaging indoors for about 48 hours before installing the floor. The ideal conditions for acclimatisation in terms of temperature are considered to be 15-22°C. This prevents possible breakage of the boards due to temperature variations during the installation phase.
Start Installation: vinyl flooring is installed in the direction of the light coming from the window, from left to right, unless otherwise specified. This will give the neatest possible finish. Leave at least 5 mm of clearance between the walls and the vinyl flooring.
Finish Installation: install the skirting boards at the edges by fixing them to the wall, not the floor. It is important that the floor can move if necessary. The floor should not be pressed downwards by the skirting, but the skirting should be installed according to the installed floor level.
Vinyl floor care
Proper care of vinyl flooring is important to maintain its durability and elegance. Keep your floor clean with regular vacuuming and clean your floor regularly with a wet or damp mop in addition to vacuuming. Use a microfibre mop or floor cleaner for best results.
The best detergent for vinyl floors is a soap-free floor cleaner or all-purpose cleaner with a pH of 6-8. Soapy detergents can build up a film on the vinyl surface, making the floor look untidy. Vinyl flooring is water-resistant, but it is not recommended to wash it with large amounts of water, as the seams may not be completely waterproof.
Excessive sunlight can fade the surface of vinyl flooring, so it’s a good idea to make sure that the sun doesn’t shine directly on the floor when it’s hot.
Summary
Vinyl flooring is an excellent choice for many areas of the home, and when properly installed, it provides a durable and attractive flooring solution for years to come. By following these steps, you can ensure that your vinyl flooring will remain beautiful and durable for years to come.
