About the product

Always choose the best quality underlay for your floor, as the carpet will have a surprisingly large impact on the final result. Silence 15 is an excellent and safe choice when installing a floor on concrete or plaster. We particularly recommend Silence 15 underlay under parquet and hardened oak floors, and it is also excellent for laminate.

The mineral-based structure of the product is reinforced with fibre fabric and covered with an aluminium vapour barrier film. The underlay is elastic and absorbs step noise and small unevenness in the subfloor.

The Silence 15 underlay is installed with the aluminium film facing upwards and the mat strips (1 metre wide underlay) are taped together to form a continuous area, using the aluminium tape supplied with the Silence underlay. Each roll of Silence underlay is bagged and the bag contains a roll of aluminium tape. The mat strips should not be overlapped to avoid creating a gap at the seam. The mat strips are placed side by side in the bag and taped to form a continuous area.

The high compressive strength of the underlay makes it particularly suitable for underlaying parquet, hardened oak flooring and laminate. In the case of vinyl flooring, it should be checked whether vinyl needs any additional cushioning at all.

The Silence 15 mat is 2 mm high, 1 m wide and has a roll size of 8.5 m2. The mat weighs approx. 1.6 kg/m2. Attenuation of footsteps of up to 18 dB and reduction of the sound of footsteps in the room of up to 25%.

If your subfloor is a so-called dry subfloor, i.e. plasterboard, wood board or, for example, plastic mat, use Silence 20 subfloor mat which does not contain a vapour barrier.
